Patient information

Help us understand your recovery

Your surgeon uses OrthoMetrics to follow your symptoms, function, and progress before and after orthopaedic treatment.

It usually takes only a few minutes. Your answers help your surgeon see how you are recovering and improve care for future patients.

What is OrthoMetrics?

OrthoMetrics is a secure system used by orthopaedic practices to collect patient-reported outcome measures, often called PROMs.

PROMs are short questionnaires about pain, movement, daily activities, and quality of life. They are completed by you, in your own words, at important points in your treatment and recovery.

Your practice may already hold booking, referral, theatre-list, operation note, or other clinical administration information about your care. Some of this information may be entered into OrthoMetrics so your questionnaire is linked to the correct operation and clinical team.

Why your own report matters

X-rays, scans, and examination findings are important, but they do not always show how treatment feels from a patient point of view. PROMs add that missing perspective.

How taking part helps

It supports your follow-up

Your answers give your surgeon a structured record of how you are recovering over time.

It highlights progress and problems

Changes in your scores can help your surgeon understand whether recovery is following the expected path.

It improves care for future patients

When results are reviewed together, they help practices understand which treatments are working well and where care can be improved.

OrthoMetrics does not replace urgent care. If you have an urgent medical concern, contact your clinic, GP, Healthline, or emergency services as appropriate.

What happens if I consent?

1

You review the consent form

Your practice sends a secure link by email or text message. You can accept or decline.

2

You receive questionnaire links

These are usually sent before treatment and at planned follow-up times afterwards.

3

You complete them online

Most people can complete each questionnaire on a phone, tablet, or computer in a few minutes.

4

Your results are available to your surgeon

Your surgeon and authorised practice staff can review your results as part of your outcome tracking.
